Triploid vs Diploid

What the heck are you talking about?? We are referring to how many chromosomes the organisms have

Diploid

Your typical wild oyster has two chromosomes and is female or male. They can reproduce and spend much of their energy spawning in the summer

Triploid

Triploid oysters have been selectively bred to produce a genetically three chromosome organism. This oyster cannot reproduce and therefore spends more time growing plump and juicy.
